This study Bible utilizes the Christian Standard Bible, one of the newest translations available. It is a revision of the Holman Christian Standard Bible, which was produced over a period of 15 years by about 100 conservative scholars and English stylists. It has perhaps the best blend of accuracy and readability in any English translation. This translation is the one that we use in our worship services here at Faith. It is available is a wide variety of editions.

John MacArthur, a respected pastor and author, has edited one of the most detailed study Bibles ever published. It is available in multiple translations, including the New American Standard Bible, a literal translation that is very helpful for doing thorough Bible study. This Bible is also available in leather editions.

This study Bible was recently released and has been received very positively. It is a comprehensive study Bible filled with beautiful color maps and diagrams. The English Standard Version is a newer translation that is more literal than the CSB but more readable than the NASB. This study Bible is available is a variety of editions.

Strongest NASB Exhaustive Concordance

An exhaustive concordance is the most essential tool for Bible study. It lists all occurrences of every word in the Bible alphabetically for easy lookup. It also includes a numbering system and basic dictionaries for the original Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic words. We recommend the New American Standard Bible for detailed study, but if you prefer a different translation, get an exhaustive concordance to go with it.

This dictionary has been one of the best-selling Bible reference tools since it was first published. Newly updated and expanded, this valuable resource now has hundreds of full-color photos, illustrations, and charts. It contains articles on every important subject in the Bible and is a very useful tool for Bible study.

Living by the Book by Howard G. Hendricks and William D. Hendricks

This book is an tremendous introduction to studying the Bible. It advocates a three step process: observation, interpretation, and application. It is easy to read and has plenty of exercises. It is a must read for those who are young in the faith but will also benefit more mature believers as well.

Basic Bible Interpretation by Roy B. Zuck

This book is a fairly detailed work that focuses on the step of interpretation in the Bible study process. It addresses issues like culture, grammar, figures of speech, types, parables, and prophecy. It is a very helpful tool for those looking to go beyond the basics of Bible study.

Believer's Bible Commentary by William MacDonald

This book is probably the best one-volume commentary available. It is non-technical and geared toward the average Christian. It covers the entire Bible in a brief and practical way. It is tied to the New King James Version but can be used with any translation.

Bible Knowledge Commentary edited by John F. Walvoord and Roy B. Zuck

This outstanding two-volume commentary set covers the whole Bible paragraph by paragraph and sometimes verse by verse. It contains an introduction and an outline for each book of the Bible. It explains the biblical text concisely and offers solutions for problem passages. It is tied to the 1984 edition of the New International Version.

Expositor's Bible Commentary edited by Tremper Longman III and David E. Garland

This 13-volume commentary set gives an in-depth explanation of the whole Bible. Though designed for preachers and teachers, it is also helpful for the average Christian. Technical comments are restricted to the footnotes. This set is invaluable for those looking to go deeper in their Bible study.

New American Commentary edited by E. Ray Clendenen

This commentary set contains volumes on small portions of Scripture like one or two books. Only a few volumes still need to be written in this set of approximately 45 volumes. The links above are for the first volume on Genesis 1-11, but other volumes should be easy to find from there. All these commentaries are at the very least good, and many of them are exceptional. They are detailed and yet readable and practical.

MacArthur New Testament Commentary by John MacArthur

John MacArthur has served as the pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, since 1969. During that time his focus has been preaching verse by verse through the entire New Testament. This commentary set, which contains 33 volumes and was completed in 2015, is the fruit of his labor. His treatment of Scripture is often microscopic, but it is also helpful and pastoral.

Bible Doctrine by Wayne Grudem

This book is an excellent introduction to Christian theology. It covers subjects like the Bible, the Trinity, salvation, the church, and the future. It is filled with numerous Scripture quotes and citations. While our church would not agree with every aspect of Grudem's theology, overall we find this book to be very helpful. Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem

This book is Grudem's unabridged work on Christian theology. At almost 1,300 pages, it is more than twice as long as Bible Doctrine. It includes more detailed explanations of the biblical doctrines and a multitude of helpful footnotes. This book is an excellent tool for the advanced theological student.
