The Holdens have been working with Mercy Ships full time since 2000. Mercy Ships exists to bring healing and hope to the poor in developing countries through its hospital ships and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Ciaran serves as the director of marine operations. He oversees the technical operations of both the Africa Mercy and the Global Mercy, which are the two hospital ships owned by Mercy Ships. These operations include maintenance of the ship’s equipment, systems, hull, technical staffing, safety management, and certification to ensure compliance with all national and international regulations for shipping. Ciaran and his wife, Lilian, have been married since 2001 and have two daughters, Joy and Lucy.
